The Importance of Building Buildings with Earthquake Resistant Structures
As we witnessed last February the devastating earthquake that struck Turkey, and Syria, destroying many homes, factories, shops, etc. Earthquakes are a natural disaster that occurs due to the cracking of the global. Also, when an earthquake is strong and devastating, it can result in many deaths and destroy many homes, shops, factories, etc. These damages can be reduced by building earthquake- resistant structures. Architects are building buildings with earthquake- resistant structures for three causes: the need to protect people and infrastructure, it requires highly experienced engineers, and excessive cost.
The first cause is the need to protect people and infrastructure. After many earthquakes and the destruction that occurs after the earthquake, this guides the architects to many ways to build an earthquake- resistant structure to protect people, protect the city and its infrastructure, and reduce moral and material losses. Indeed, after the architects did that, the aftermath of the earthquake left slight damage.
Another cause is that it requires highly experienced engineers. This is not only to the architect's skill but also requires specialized construction materials and a specialized method that is different from ordinary construction. These materials are strong and flexible enough to withstand the vibrations caused by an earthquake. This also depends on the strength of the foundation of the building and that it is on flat and stable ground.
Finally, it is needing excessive cost. Earthquake resistant buildings are often more expensive than normal buildings because of the expensive materials used and modern technologies. These buildings need highly experienced architects, and their wages are also high. However, there is also a benefit to this, and it will be more job opportunities for architects and construction workers because of the large need for them and the workforce.
Eventually, for building earthquake- resistant structures buildings for many important reasons such as: the need to protect people and infrastructure, it requires highly experienced engineers, and excessive cost. The construction of these buildings is important to preserve human life. In my opinion, a strict law should be applied when designing a building from the outset.
